About Me

April Ferris, MS, LPC, NCC

I am passionate about mental health and have been working and volunteering in this field for nearly 10 years. I work with professional organizations in an effort to advocate for both clients and the trajectory of mental health care and counselor education both locally and nationally.

I have been an Oregonian for over a decade and love everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer. When I am not working with clients, you can find me exploring Oregon with my husband and children, studying for my PhD, and obsessively reading fiction of all types.

I am a human who has both privileged and marginalized identities. I acknowledge that these identities intersect with those of my client as we work together to understand how systems of oppression impact our mental health and wellness.

I have a master's degree in counseling from Portland State University with a focus on Marriage, Relationships, and Families. I am also an NBCC certified counselor. I recently began coursework towards my PhD in counselor education and supervision. I have served on the board of the Oregon Counseling Association as the professional development chair for the past four years, during which time I have collaborated with colleagues to facilitate multiple professional development events and ongoing advocacy for the field of mental health. I have also have the tremendous privilege to serve as the clinic director at the Portland State University Community Counseling Clinic.
